Terraces and converted flats
The residential streets off Christchurch Road and Merton High Street are largely Victorian and Edwardian, and many houses have been split into flats. Conversions often leave stud partitions and re-boarded ceilings that were finished at speed, along with original lath and plaster surviving in the rooms that were not touched.
Skimming across a whole room usually gives the best result in these properties, because it evens out the difference between the original surfaces and whatever was added later.
